Our world has changed significantly since the beginning of 2020. A virus that seemed so distant and non consequential, has affected all of us negatively, and some with very personal loss. It has shown that we have very little control, and for a lot of us,our anxiety has increased due to our ever access to 24 hour news on our phones. This may lead to negative affects physically and mentally.

Here at Care Medical Clinics Calgary, we are working with you to help by implementing a few things that can to reduce the negative effects of social isolation.

  1. We all need correct information of what is going on especially as there seems to be new information added daily. Although we need to stay informed, we should do it occasionally so we do not overwhelm ourselves in this climate.   2. We have to remember to keep things in perspective. Granted the numbers of infections and fatalities are ever increasing, however we need to see it in a wider context. The vast majority of the population do recover and are able to go back to their lives. This situation is not permanent. We need to keep in mind that we are going to come out of it. We can look at the news with the latest development in the fight against the disease.
  3. You have control over what can be done to reduce the spread of the virus through Health Canada guidelines. Wash your hands thoroughly especially when coming back home. Maintain social distancing. And help those who cannot go out because they are vulnerable. These are really important aspects that will help not only in minimizing the spread of Covid 19, but will also help with anxiety levels.
  4. Breathing exercises and being mindful of how your are feeling will all contribute to a more positive outlook. Breathing techniques can be part of your routine when you are going to bed or if you feel an anxiety attack is coming on.
